After last night’s brilliant performance, it’s no wonder that Joao Felix is in the headlines today, and not just in England.
Marca in Spain have a whole piece about his future, and it’s not entirely positive for Chelsea fans who are now desperate to see the attacker’s loan turned into a permanent move.
The good news first – they say that he has quickly adapted to life in London and wants to stick around and become one of the best in Europe. On his end (and certainly on our end) there is the desire to keep him.
Now the bad news – after their crazy year of spending, Chelsea are going to struggle to pay the €100m plus that Atletico Madrid want for Felix, and nor are they interested in any of the players which Chelsea are happy to offer as part exchange to bring the price down. Atletico want, quite specifically, the big cash transfer fee.
This doesn’t mean there’s no way around it, but with Christopher Nkunku coming this summer, it’s going to be a battle to get Felix in.
