One year ago today, Chelsea were on top of the world

Chelsea were crowned Champions of the World on this day one year ago after winning the Club World Cup.

Kai Havertz’s late penalty against Palmeiras ensured Chelsea went home with the trophy in what was Thomas Tuchel’s third and final trophy won as Chelsea manager.

Real Madrid are now the holders after beating Al Hilal 5-3 in last night’s final.

The Club World Cup is one of the hardest competitions to compete in as Europe’s representative for the competition must win the Champions League.

Speaking of the Champions League, Chelsea will have a chance to make another run for the big ears on Wednesday when they start their first leg of a knockout tie against Borussia Dortmund.

Chelsea will relish having the second leg back at Stamford Bridge with the comforts of the home fans but must however go to Germany in front of an expected 81,000 fan sell out and come away with a result.

It will be interesting to see what Chelsea turn up, Graham Potter has only won 2 of his last 13 games.
