Revealed: The ‘post-loan plan’ that has given Chelsea ‘confidence’ in signing Joao felix

Chelsea have made a ‘post-loan’ plan to sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid on a permanent deal, according to a report this week.

The Blues picked up the Portuguese international in the winter window on a six-month loan deal, but according to insider Ben Jacobs of Si & Dan Talk Chelsea, the club would love to sign Felix on a permanent deal this summer, and have a plan to do so.

Jacobs has just penned his latest extensive and exclusive article on the website, and one of the small sections he covers in detail is Chelsea trying to sign Felix.

In his two games for the club so far he has really made a difference and given Chelsea a huge step up in quality.

Todd Boehly and co might have to spend a bit of cash on getting him on a permanent deal, but it looks like they are more than ready to do so.

“Chelsea would love to keep Joao Felix and a post-loan plan was discussed with Atletico Madrid when the deal was done,” Jacobs said. “This has given Chelsea confidence that they can sign Felix if all goes well.

“Atleti may say they want well over £100m, but I would expect a deal to get done without Chelsea being too scared off by price tag. This is because if Felix shines at Chelsea he won’t want to return if he’s enjoying his football and Atleti could use the cash as well.

“Chelsea and Felix don’t see things definitely ending come the end of the season. The club wouldn’t be paying such a high loan fee and wages if they weren’t optimistic they could land Felix permanently.”
