“That’s a problem” – Pundit highlights Chelsea’s issue after not addressing it in January

Chelsea lost 1-0 to Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the last 16 of the Champions League in Germany last night, and they have a real task on their hands to now qualify for the next round.

Of course, technically it is only 1-0 to Dortmund at half time, with a whole second leg to still play, but Chelsea will be massively frustrated after this game.

Not for the performance, but for the unbelievable amount of missed clear chances. I lost count of how many there was, and how many players were guilty of missing chances. But they also lack a real focal point up top.

Pundit Rio Ferdinand has highlighted this, and I agree with him.

In quotes picked up by Caught Offside, Ferdinand said: “Chelsea spent all this money and didn’t get a number nine in the team, that’s a problem.”

He’s not wrong at all. Chelsea lack a true number 9 and Kai Havertz isn’t that guy. We have David Datro Fofana, but with him always being described as still raw, was always a risk relying on him. Besides, he’s not even registered in the UCL squad!
