There are 6 changes to Chelsea’s team to face Southampton today, with interesting new combinations all over the pitch.
We’re very excited to see Mason Mount and Joao Felix develop some chemistry, and to see what David Datro Fofana can bring leading the line instead of Kai Havertz.
There’s one area we are worried about however – the central defensive partnership. Both Benoit Badiashile and Kalidou Koulibaly are used to playing alongside the masterful Thiago Silva. Now, for the first time they partner each other, without the calming effects of the world’s best central defender alongside them.
It’s only Southampton of course – if they can’t handle this they can’t handle anything – but it will be interesting to see how they get on. They’re both top players and vastly experienced in their own right of course, but the Premier League is a different beast to what they’re used to, and there’s no denying this is an important test for the pair.
