Chelsea allowed midfielder Jorginho leave the club during the January transfer window and join rivals Arsenal.
The Italian international had a contract running out in the summer of 2023, but instead of letting it run down, Chelsea decided to get some money for the experienced midfielder in the transfer window instead.
Another midfielder who is in the same position is N’Golo Kante, who is soon expected back from injury again. But it looks like Chelsea have more desire to keep Kante and are not willing to let him leave as a free agent in the summer, according to Ben Jacobs of Si & Dan Talk Chelsea.
Jacobs has penned his latest extensive and exclusive column on the site, and one of the many things he addresses is the contract situation of Kante, and rumours linking him to a move to Al-Nassr. In fact, rumours that they have even made him a lucrative offer!

Jacobs says: “Talks with N’Golo Kante are positive – far more so than over the summer. Chelsea really want to keep him, especially now Jorginho has left for Arsenal. It will again come down to contract length and Kante agreeing to reduced (or more incentive-driven) terms.
“Although plenty of interest in Kante from elsewhere, I can confirm there’s no truth Al-Nassr have already made him a lucrative offer. Kante’s priority is to stay in London and at Chelsea.”
