Thiago Silva set to miss two crucial games – but appears to avoid major injury

The bad news keeps coming at Chelsea.

The team had actually made a decent start in the game against Tottenham, but that was all wiped away when Harry Kane fell on Thiago Silva, twisting the defender’s knee and prompting his subsittution.

Without Silva the team looked lacking in leadership as well as defensive quality, and by full time it was 2-0.

The Brazilian icon tried to continue playing, which was a promising sign that the injury was not as serious as it could have been, and we’re now hearing prognoses which rather confirm that.

Daily Telegraph Chelsea correspondent Matt Law has confirmed that the defender will miss both of our next two games, but shouldn’t be out longer than that.

We should be thankful for small mercies – if Kane falls a bit harder it could be a month or more.

But one also gets the feeling that having no Silva in these next two games could prove fatal for Graham Potter’s Chelsea career.
