Benoit Badiashile has had a brilliant start for Chelsea, and the Blues are yet to concede a goal with the January signing in the team.
So far he’s played in the centre of a back four with Thiago Silva, and the two have dovetailed right away. Silva has the experience and the nous, Badiashile has the legs. As a French speaker, Silva can communicate well with his new teammate too.
Speaking about his impressive new signing, Potter pointed out another factor which was helping the pair – Badiashile’s preferred foot:
“He brings a calmness, he’s good with the ball, he’s left footed so he gives us balance on that side.”
Potter was also happy to go into great detail about the youngster’s other qualities – and they are numerous:
“Attacking and defending, he’s had a solid start for us. Young player, you never know when they come into the country in a different situation, a different league, but so far he’s managed it really well.”
But as ever, the ever diplomatic Potter was keen to point to the team’s efforts rather than just one individual:
“He’s had a nice relationship with Thiago, but the team have defended well, it’s not just those two guys. The team have done well.”
It’s exciting times in Chelsea’s defence.
