“What you need above all else” – Former Chelsea player on the one thing that could fix Potter’s team

Chelsea have been poor in attack and poor in defence for large parts of this season, and their results reflect that.

There have been plenty of games where we’ve competed, but we’ve consistently got what we deserved, and come off worse in those matches. We’ve got unlucky at times, but that’s because we’ve failed to make our own luck.

Writing in his column on the Chelsea website, Pat Nevin was clear about what this team needs to give them that extra couple of percent which will turn all these losses into draws and draws into wins:

“What you need above all else now is players who are brave enough to want the ball all the time in difficult areas, who are willing to take risks and to try anything to change the narrative. They also have to be hard-working as well as talented, showing a desire for their work, a pride in what they do and yes, a deep feeling for the team and the club itself.”

He goes on to name Joao Felix as the man he thought most likely to provide that in the game on Sunday.

We sort of agree – Felix had a couple of moments, but Spurs kept him very quiet for most of the game. It says a lot about the rest of our team that Felix’s efforts could be considered among the best of a bad bunch.
