“You can see the supporters’ reaction” – Potter says he still has fans backing

There have been more than a few murmurs of discontent about Graham Potter’s time as Chelsea manager, with results continuing to slide.

Fans have not been happy, and after a defeat against Borussia Dortmund tonight, Potter was asked how he thought Blues would react to another loss, given the circumstances. It was setting him up to be defensive, or to be critical of those fans who weren’t happy with him.

Potter didn’t fall into the trap of accepting the negative spin on the situation.

He pointed out that the supporters’ reaction was evident to anyone in the stadium – and that it was positive, not negative.

“You can see the supporters’ reaction at the game, It was really positive. They saw that performance from the team.”

He’s shown a propensity to throw a compliment in to the fans to show his appreciation, and he did so again today when he noted “they gave us a fantastic reception.”

It was certainly as valiant a defeat as you’ll see, and we’re sure he loyal away support did show their appreciation to the players and coach.
