“You need to score at the level we’re playing at” – Potter states the obvious over crazy goal drought

Chelsea’s issue with scoring goals is by far the most pressing one we’re facing at the moment, and when asked about it, manager Graham Potter couldn’t really think of a reason or an explanation.

He now has a squad jam packed with attacking and creative quality, which makes the stinking run of blanks his side are enduring even harder to explain or justify.

“With the chances we had, we need to score – and it’s something that we have to keep working on. There are reasons and I could stand here for five minutes and talk about them, but I know we have to do better. It’s not acceptable to lose 1-0 here and any criticism I get is fair,” the coach said in quotes picked up by Football.London,

“We were all disappointed after Borussia Dortmund because of the chances we created and the opportunities we had. You need to score at the level we’re playing at, that is the reality. [Against Southampton] it was the same.”

Indeed Graham. In fact, we think you’ll find that scoring is a pretty vital part of the game at any level.

We do sympathise with him – yes he’s stating the obvious, but what else can he say? The last two games in particular have seen his team create a ridiculous number of chances without scoring, and there’s only so much he can say or do about it.

The fact we were raining shots down on goal does at least give us hope that we could be about to turn the corner.
