Journalist names player being ignored by Graham Potter as ‘game-changer’

Graham Potter has a huge squad at his disposal at Chelsea right now, and big squads can create issues.

Although these are issues that can be looked upon as good issues, but for some players, not being picked as much as they wish to be could cause frustrations and unhappiness.

I doubt it has got anywhere near that level yet for winger Noni Madueke, who arrived in the January transfer window. But his situation has been odd. Potter was starting him in games when he first arrived, but has ignored him of late and he is lucky if he even sees grass right now.

But Madueke is still a young player and is developing all the time, which is why he will probably be maintaining a lot of patience right now.

CBS journalist Ben Jacobs believes Madueke is a real game-changer, highlighting his recent performance in France U21s 4-0 defeat to England U21s in his exclusive and extensive Chelsea column for Si & Dan Talk Chelsea this week.

“Noni Madueke scored once and assisted twice in England Under-21s brilliant 4-0 win over France,” Jacobs said.

“This was even more impressive considering Madueke only came on after 66 minutes. He is still taking time to settle at Chelsea and I don’t think his lack of game time is any real surprise. But he is a game-changer. Madueke has tremendous energy and directness, and a habit of being at the right place at the right time. But he also knows when to be unselfish and can pick a pass, too, as he showed by threading through Jacob Ramsey for the fourth goal.”
