This horrible season seems to stretch on forever – but the reality is that there could be relatively few games left to play.
If we lose to Real Madrid in the Champions League – which looks very likely – we have just 10 games left to play in the season.
That means there’s a very good chance that some first team stars have actually played their last minutes in a Blue shirt, given how many will be sold this summer.
Hakim Ziyech is so far down the pecking order that we can well see him heading off without stepping on the pitch again.
Edouard Mendy also looks set to leave in the summer, and hasn’t been seen since January. It seems unlikely he forces his way back into the side with so few games left.
Then there’s Denis Zakaria, whose minutes have really suffered from the change to a 343 and the return of N’Golo Kante. He’s only on loan from Juventus, and we expect him to go back to Turin this summer without getting any further action.
