After 24 hours of fear, we can relax about the Levi Colwill situation.
The centre back spent yesterday being linked to Liverpool and Man City. With just two years left on his contract and the club desperate to raise cash by selling home grown assets, it seemed possible they would cash in this summer if the young central defender decided against renewing his deal.
But just a day later we find out that not only is Colwill in Chelsea’s first team plans for next season, but also that he has a unilateral extension clause that the club can activate anyway. So all that worrying was for nothing.
Levi Colwill will not leave Chelsea this summer. Club has a three year option on the contract. He will be back at the club next season. He won’t be sold or loaned. As previously reported, Chelsea view him as an elite-level prospect. pic.twitter.com/21W92s5Klw

Ben Jacobs says it’s a “three year option,” and while some have taken that to mean an extra three years that can be added, that seems implausible. It’s more likely he means a third year on top of the two that have yet to run.
