The media are piling up the pressure against Chelsea and their new owners right now after a terrible first season in charge at the club, at least in terms of results and performances on the pitch.
The rest can be debated, and that is exactly what the media are heavily doing right now. The Athletic have penned an article today questioning their ownership so far using terms like ‘scattergun’ to describe their transfer recruitment so far and referring to Chelsea as a ‘madhouse’ right now. To be honest, it’s getting hard to disagree with some of it.
Sources: Chelsea’s rebuild plans with Levi Colwill a major part of it!
Graham Potter left a stable, well-run, upwardly-mobile club for a madhouse, says the author of the article, Oliver Kay.
He says that Chelsea’s bloated squad points towards the dysfunction Chelsea’s scattergun transfer policy has brought. And again, it’s hard to argue against that.
And perhaps the biggest concerning stat that backs that up is that over the course of 31 Premier League games this season, Chelsea have made 112 changes to their starting line-up, an average of 3.6 per game. This is the highest such figure in the division. Crazy.
