Simon Phillips’ piece for Give Me Sport today claims that Chelsea will be looking to cash in on Callum Hudson-Odoi this summer.
The Blues are in desperate need of raising money after lavish spending through the last 12 months, and Hudson-Odoi is a home grown asset, meaning his sale is worth significantly more than the resale of a player.
It will be hard to get a good price for him however, after a disappointing spell in Germany. A loan move to Bayer Leverkusen was supposed to spark his career up after fading from the picture at Chelsea, but instead after a bright start he’s fallen out of Xabi Alonso’s plans entirely, and finds himself riding the bench in Germany just as he did at Chelsea.
There will still be someone willing to take a punt on his obvious talent, but it will only be a thin slice of the enormous debts we’ve racked up.
