Chelsea continue to monitor Premier League striker despite new contract

One of the key areas Chelsea will be looking to make a signing in this summer is the striker position, as confirmed earlier today by Fabrizio Romano in his exclusive CaughtOffside column.

They have been linked with many different striker names over the last few weeks, but there is a new kid on the block catching their eye.

Sources: Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea aligned on squad building!

According to Romano, writing in the same column above, Brighton striker Evan Ferguson is on Chelsea’s radar this summer.

However, the young rising star has just penned a new 8-year-contract with his current club, which they would have hoped would put off any potential suitors. But not Chelsea, Manchester United, and many other clubs, according to Romano at least.

Ferguson is a fantastic prospect and really does look like he can become the real deal. Brighton are wise to tie him down to a long-term deal and even if they do have to sell him, they know they have a stronghold and will be able to get a massive fee for him.

Romano said: “Clubs were monitoring Ferguson, of course, he’s a super young talent and it’s normal to follow his steps; this will continue not just with Manchester United or Chelsea but with many clubs.

“But Brighton have been smart and fast, excellent again to extend the contract and keep the player at the club.”
