Hakim Ziyech has never really found his feet at Chelsea, let’s be honest. Despite some bright moments along the way it’s just never looked like working – in part down to his poor form and lack of application at times, but also just due to the endless managerial flux at the club.
He will leave this summer, as Frank Lebouef said in quotes picked up by the Metro this morning:
“Well, definitely Ziyech [will leave]. The guy is not happy, and he wants to work. Every time he plays for Morocco, he’s the best player in the world, and every time he plays for Chelsea, he feels sad and lost. So I wish him to go somewhere else where he can show to the world he’s still the Ziyech that we have seen when he played for Ajax.”
We feel a bit like Frank. Ziyech is clearly never going to work out as a Chelsea player, so we’d rather he moves on sooner rather than suffers any more time on our bench. It feels like another league may suit him a lot more.
The fact that his loan to PSG on deadline day fell through really looks more and more like a tragedy with every passing week that he doesn’t play for us. The magic is still in there, but we’re just never going to see it at Stamford Bridge.
