Chelsea are losing to Wolves at Molineux, but there was one slice of fun for the travelling supporters.
Diego Costa became a cult hero at Stamford Bridge, and while he’s a Wolves player now, he still got a huge ovation from both the away and the home fans when he was subbed off today.
He played a vital role in winning the title with Antonio Conte in charge, and the fact we’ve been unable to find a decent goalscorer since has only enhanced our good memories of him. He’s well past his best now, and frankly looks about 3 or 4 yards off it these days, but he would still probably do a job for us.
It was all a rare moment of fun for the Chelsea fans in the stadium, who are watching their team put in another dreadful showing. At least Costa didn’t score – although those away fans would surely have cheered him anyway.
