Chelsea fans hail their former player who showed everything they lacked

Chelsea have just been utterly schooled by Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, and as well as a footballing lesson, the Blues were shown how woefully lacking in commitment they were.

Both Madrid goals came from hesitant, indecisive defending, and so many chances were given away by just a lack of defensive effort from the away side.

One player who could always be relied upon for going into every tackle with all his heart and soul was Antonio Rudiger, who left us last summer to join Madrid on a free.

He was only on the pitch for a short time tonight, but managed more full blooded challenges and blocks in that time than the whole Chelsea team did.

After getting in the way of a late Mason Mount shot on goal, Rudiger got to his feet and roared, celebrating with his teammates.

At full time, as he walked off, the away Chelsea fans hailed him with his song from Stamford Bridge. You can tell they’re missing him.

  1. How did we lose Rudiger? It all began when Lampard froze him out. And we brought him back as a caretaker why???

We can love him for all he did as a Chelsea player and still assess that he’s done nothing in his managerial career to earn the right to be back on our sideline. It’s a sentimental choice that already appears to be costing us.
