Chelsea hold talks with Bayern over Nagelsmann release clause

Chelsea are moving ahead on all fronts as they desperately search for a new manager.

We know they’ve spoken with Luis Enrique in a face to face meeting, and reports in the last few days have claimed that Julien Nagelsmann has also met with the sporting directors.

Those two seem like the front runners so far, and a vital part of the equation when it comes to who is chosen will be the cost of employing them. Nagelsmann still has a contract with Bayern Munich after being fired just a month ago, so Chelsea are now investigating what it would cost them to hire him.

Simon Phillips is reporting that Chelsea’s legal team met Bayern’s legal team to figure out a compensation package.

Bayern will likely be happy to get Nagelsmann off their books in any case, so we don’t forsee any major issues on that front, but it’s certainly the kind of thing you want to figure out in advance.
