Chelsea hold talks with Ruben Amorim as manager search continues

The Guardian are reporting that Chelsea are speaking to Ruben Amorim about taking over as manager in the summer.

The Sporting Clube de Portugal coach is considered one of the top coaching prospects in European football, and led the Lions to an unexpected Liga NOS title two years ago.

His star has waned a little since then, but he’s still constantly linked with moves to top clubs – and eventually one of them will take the plunge. This story links Real Madrid and PSG, who are both likely looking for a new coach this summer.

It is also suggested that Julien Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique are still frontrunners for the Stamford Bridge job, but Amorim would likely be close behind given his pedigree and his potential.

It will cost serious money to take him from Sporting, but if he’s really considered the future, it will end up feeling cheap. Still just 38, a top team could be about to land a manager for years to come.
