Chelsea have met with the agent of Spain super-talent Gavi, according to a story in the Daily Mail today.
The paper report that Chelsea technical director Christopher Vivell met with the midfielder’s agent Ivan de la Pena three weeks ago with a satisfactory outcome. Another one has been arranged to take place in three week’s time.
Gavi is in a unique situation due to Barcelona’s financial mess. They have been unable to register him on a senior contract, and the most recent judgment handed down by a local court is that the 18 year old will be able to leave the club on a free transfer this summer.
It’s felt all along like eventually this will be resolved, as Barca will move heaven and earth to get their academy product signed up, but now we’re that close to the summer, and their financial mess looks no closer to being resolved, there does start to feel like a faint possibility that he moves.
