Chelsea manager pursuit heats up – decision expected ‘in the coming weeks’

It looks like we are reaching the climax of Chelsea’s attempts to hire a new permanent manager.

Frank Lampard has been installed as interim manager until the end of the season, but he has started miserable with three defeats and the frustrations are boiling over from the fanbase, as well as from the ownership, who were at Stamford Bridge on Saturday to see another dire Chelsea performance against Brighton leading to defeat again.

Sources: Chelsea’s rebuild plans with Levi Colwill a major part of it!

And now, according to The Athletic, Chelsea have whittled down the manager search to just a handful of candidates and are expected to make a decision in the coming weeks.

That process is now at a middle stage and what initially began as a shortlist comprising five-to-10 candidates has been whittled down to just a handful of options heading into the closing stages.

One person they don’t expect to be offered the role is Sporting’s Ruben Amorim, who has been spoken to but it hasn’t gone any further.
