Chelsea risk total rotation as they hope to turn around Real Madrid tie

Chelsea have changed 6 of their 10 outfield players for this afternoon’s game against Brighton.

It’s a huge risk from Frank Lampard, who is clearly resting a lot of his first team stars ahead of the return game against Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

It’s a sensible decision in a way – the rest of our league games are relatively meaningless, while a result against Madrid would be a historic one – but it’s potentially going to come at a painful cost. This team has struggled desperately even at it’s best, and changing so much of the team is only goin got make them worse.

Key players like N’Golo Kante, Reece James and Thiago Silva are out, while the likes of Denis Zakaria and Mykhailo Mudryk get a chance.

We can see the logic, but if a well drilled and in form Brighton team start tearing through this makeshift XI, don’t be too surprised.
