Chelsea striker linked with season loan to Portugal as he looks to recover from serious injury

Armando Broja has been offered to Sporting Club de Portugal on loan for next season, according to a report on Portuguese football site “Bola na Rede.”

The striker was expected to be loaned out this year after a good season with Southampton, only to end up sticking around as backup striker. Just as he started to get some first team opportunities, he picked up a season ending injury.

We can well imagine a move to Sporting – who are desperately short of a striker – working out for the club and the player, but the injury is the real question mark. Nobody knows quite how Broja will come back from it, and it’s hard to imagine any decisions being made by Chelsea or Sporting until his condition is established.

If he comes back for preseason and looks sharp, we could well see more activity on this front. Until then, it’s hard to take any report too seriously.
