Chelsea to hand young centre back “first team guarantees” to secure him long term

Given the quality academy produced players Chelsea have lost in the last few years, nothing keeps Blues fans up late at night quite like the prospects of others joining them.

The cream of the crop right now is Levi Colwill, who this season stepped up from being one of the top prospects in the Championship to being one of the top prospects in the Premier League in his loan at Brighton.

Liverpool are among the teams who have been linked with a move for the defender, but according to an article on Football Insider, the Blues have a cunning plan to persuade the 20 year old to commit to a new contract and a future at Stamford Bridge.

They write that Chelsea are willing to give him guarantees of first team action in order t oper

Ultimately, the club shouldn’t be promising him first team action just to get him ato stay, they should be offering him first team football because he’s a very good young player.

  1. i hv every confidence it will happen now that Chelsea is building an “elite” group of players with all the deadwood to be sold or go on loan. Both Reece and now Levi certainly belongs in that group!

  2. How can you guarantee a player first team football? If he’s playing crap he should get dropped like every other player.
