Chelsea’s best and worst rated players on the pitch against Real Madrid

Chelsea were very poor against Real Madrid, from front to back.

A look at the ratings on WhoScored shows some surprisingly high scores considering that. Would you have rated any of the Blues above a 6?

By their metrics, Kepa Arrizabalaga got a 7.7 rating, thanks to some saves, while in reality he was at fault for both goals to some degree.

Our lowest rated was Ben Chilwell, a score obviously conditioned by his red card. His 5.5 was still only slightly worse than Mateo Kovacic, who was dire in the middle of the pitch.

Joao Felix got a surprisingly generous 6.7 given most of his game was made up of failed nutmegs, and Enzo Fernandez’ 6.4 also seems high.

But the reality is that all our structure had collapsed by the time of the red card, and players should be judged accordingly. Most of the team ended up out of position by full time, and most were looking ahead to the second leg from the moment that red was shown.
