Chelsea’s dreadful shot stats from another poor showing in front of goal

It was another defeat for Chelsea today, and another game where the Blues failed to score.

We’ve seen a few matches recently – Tuesday’s effort against Liverpool a prime example – where we’ve had chances and just not converted them. Today we didn’t even create the chances to miss, and the stats backed that up.

WhoScored had the numbers as 13 shots for the Blues, but just one of those ended up being on target.

That’s a poor return by any measure, and is really summed up what we saw watching the game – a toothless team without any natural goalscorers or any conviction in front of goal.

There were precious few cohesive attacking moves from Frank Lampard’s team, let alone dangerous chances. The easy solution is just to “buy a striker,” but as we saw when we dropped £100m on Romelu Lukaku, it’s rarely that simple. Things will need to change throughout the team if we’re to start scoring regularly again.

  1. Kai isn’t striker why on earth he is used upfront . Their is a proper striker there why not to use . Kai can operate behind the striker. I hope they will find the right one to manage this team right . And why Gallagher started. Their is quality player there whose better than him . He should put another attacker or play zakaria instead of Gallagher. Winnable game but turn up bad .

  2. Ese Havertz es un escuálido enquencle no gana ninguna disputa de balón parece cervatillo… que alguien lo combierta en hombresito ya.
