Chilling Chelsea assists stat is relegation-worthy

Mykhailo Mudryk was one of the few Chelsea players to impress today as his team lost to Brighton, and he got an assist for the Blues’ only goal of the game when he played a clever no look pass back to Conor Gallagher, whose shot struck a defender and looped in.

Mudryk arrived in January, and now has two assists to his name. Not a monster impact, but a decent return for a player without too many 90 minute appearances under his belt.

But there’s something chilling about that meagre number – his two assists are the most by any Chelsea player this season.

That tells you just how dreadful our lack of quality both in creating and attacking is. No player is making good enough chances to warrant more than a paltry two assists, and no attackers are hitting the net often enough to generate that either.

What a historic mess.

  1. True. It’s what you do in the midintervals that counts. Look at Real Madrid.
If there was some creativity in this team then even middle weight strikers like Remy, Ba, Bats would score some goals.
