Football Daily’s analysis of Chelsea – Real Madrid last night focused on Enzo Fernandez, who one pundit called “Chelsea’s worst player on the pitch.”
We agree to an extent – he was all over the place defensively and did give the ball away a lot, but to say he didn’t hit any good passes is mad – his deft flicks over the top and switches of play looked like our only chances of catching Madrid out.
You can see the pundits discussion in the clip embedded here:
🗣️ “He was put into a position to fail. When you’re not going to have a lot of possession, especially after the red card, you need the guy playing in that position to be ball secure.”@PatrickBVS on Enzo Fernández against Real Madrid. 👎

As they say, in the end he was rather set up for failure. The difference in chemistry between the Madrid midfield, who move the ball almost telepathically, and Chelsea’s, who still all look like strangers to one another, was remarkable.
There needs to be months (if not years) of work to get our players playing like that, and hopefully in the future Enzo will have a better team structure around him.

ridiculous analysis – Enzo was Chelsea’s best player with good stats across the board
