Fabrizio Romano: Manager ‘has been speaking to Chelsea since Graham Potter was fired’

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has jumped in with the latest on Chelsea’s manager search this morning as it reaches the final part of the search.

The club officials have been narrowing down the candidates to the final few this week and it sounds like they will soon be looking to make a decision on who they will be appointing as their next permanent manager at Stamford Bridge.

Aleksander Mitrovic wants to join Chelsea?

There are a couple names that have been relevant and consistently mentioned all along, and one of them is because he has been speaking to Chelsea ever since Graham Potter was sacked.

Julian Nagelsmann is a clear favourite to become the next Chelsea manager after he was sacked by Bayern Munich and replaced by former Blues boss Thomas Tuchel.

And Romano reiterates that again today in his Daily Briefing for Caught Offside.

However, he also says that no decisions have been made yet.

Romano said: “Julian Nagelsmann has been speaking to Chelsea since Graham Potter was fired, so talks are constant and he remains the favourite; but it’s also important to say that nothing has been decided on club side yet, so there’s room for change.

“Everything remains open so for Nagelsmann. I think he’s an excellent option for what Chelsea need right now – an elite coach, young but with modern ideas, someone for long term for sure.”
