Fluminense president speaks out on Thiago Silva Chelsea exit rumours

There were some rumours floating around last week regarding a potential return to Brazil for Thiago Silva, something that might come sooner than later despite Silva having a contract at Stamford Bridge until 2024.

The rumours didn’t really amount to much and it wasn’t really any major outlet reporting it, so it sort of faded out.

Sources: Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea aligned on squad building!

And now, Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt has been speaking about that and Silva potentially returning there.

Bittencourt has confirmed that nothing much can be done yet due to Silva having a contract at Chelsea until 2024, but he certainly doesn’t rule out Silva heading to his club as soon as possible.

In quotes picked up today by Sport Witness, Bittencourt said: “What can I say today? He has a contract until 2024 and at the moment there’s nothing. Of course, football things are dynamic. For example, Marcelo, I said that the plan was that he would come in the middle of the year, but things changed there, he rescinded it earlier. So it’s a dream, yes, because of the window he could only come in the middle of the year.”

Silva will remain a very important player for Chelsea now and hopefully next season as well, and right now, he is the one wearing the captains armband and the most experienced leader in the group. Chelsea need Silva!
