Former Chelsea defender blames Wesley Fofana

Frank Leboeuf was on ESPN last night, and he admitted that while he’s excluded Wesley Fofana from most of his criticism so far, he couldn’t do it again.

He named the centre back as culpable for Brentford’s second goal, which Bryan Mbeumo scored on the counter.

It was one of those goals where you know at least one player has messed up. Mbeumo ran from his own half, with very little support, and ended up scoring a close range shot. Somebody has got to make a challenge, and somebody has got to fill in for the player making a challenge.

Fofana is a great player, but we agree that this one is on him.

You can see his point in the clips embedded here:

The communication with partner Thiago Silva was also poor, as Leboeuf mentions too. The pair have had a decent number of games together now, and we were really expecting better at this stage.
