Fabrizio Romano and other sources are today reporting Frank Lampard’s return to Chelsea on an interim basis as a “done deal,” with all the paperwork and contracts prepared, and just a signature and an announcement to the public pending.
That’s expected any minute now – and in fact Lampard will take a training session this afternoon according to Matt Law of the Telegraph.
His new role as caretaker until the end of the season starts with a home game against Wolves and only gets tougher from there. There’s Real Madrid in the Champions League next week, and some really hard Premier League fixtures to finish the campaign.

But the fact he’s able to get to way right away should help, and even though time on the training pitch will be limited between now and the end of the season, his job is just to get them playing close to their potential rather than trying anything new or intricate.
