Frank Lampard would have sold Chelsea player back in 2020 if he had his way

Frank Lampard takes the Chelsea reigns tonight leading them into the Champions League quarter finals.

The opposition is potentially one of the best teams in the world right now in the shape of Real Madrid, and Lampard and some of the players will be lining up against a familiar face – Antonio Rudiger.

Sources: Key Chelsea manager updates and plans to interview candidates!

The former Blues centre back left the club as a free agent before signing for Real Madrid not long after, and Rudiger was managed by both Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea.

The Athletic have a big article out today on Rudiger right ahead of the big game tonight, and they go through his time at Chelsea and why he left.

There were a lot of things said and done during Rudiger’s time at Chelsea, but it looks like Lampard would have sold the Germany international if given a chance.

That is according to the report, if Lampard had had his way, Rudiger would have been sold in 2020. The centre-half ended up staying, but played just eight times before Lampard was sacked in January 2021.
