“I am told Chelsea’s position is categorical” – Journalist delivers key update on player

Chelsea are in a bit of a mess right now and there are all sorts of things being said and done around the club and by the media.

Speculation is growing on a number of things, and pressure is really building now on the new ownership for the first time in their tenure. Chelsea fans are annoyed and restless, and some of them have started turning their frustrations towards the new owners and some of the decisions they have made so far.

Can you imagine if they sell Levi Colwill this summer and the riots that would ensue? Not literally a riot of course, but fans would be massively annoyed and angry if that happens.

However, according to Ben Jacobs, writing in his exclusive and extensive Chelsea column for Si & Dan Talk Chelsea today, Chelsea will not sell Colwill this summer.

In fact, he goes as far to say that Chelsea’s position is ‘categorical’ on this.

Jacobs said: “Chelsea have no plans to sell Levi Colwill. They view him as an elite-level centre-back. Sources are adamant that he will return from Brighton this summer and will not be loaned again or sold.

“Chelsea have the option to extend Colwill’s contract by an extra year, until 2026, if he plays enough games next season, and this strengthens their hand. There is a lot of speculation about Colwill’s future. The player position is always a factor, and it’s true Liverpool (for quite some time) and Manchester City rate him. But I am told Chelsea’s position is categorical: they have no plans to let Colwill go this summer.

“Colwill returning creates even more competition at left centre-back, and this is also why any form of European football will be welcomed. Not only will the finances (even of Europa Conference League) be important, but the extra games can help give players valuable minutes.”
