Chelsea’s current situation right now means there is a lot of drama surrounding them and a lot of things being written about them, things are certainly quite glum right now.
Of course there will be light at the end of the tunnel and things will come good, I am sure of that. But they have some way to go yet along this tunnel of darkness, before they can be in a much brighter place as a club.
Recent events and poor performances even led Thiago Silva to make some passionate and honest public comments about the situation recently after Chelsea were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid.
His comments were passionate and honest, and I don’t think many people could or would be disagreeing with anything he has said. To recap, Silva said: “We can’t be blaming the managers if we don’t take responsibility. It’s a hard period for the club, with a lot of indecision. Change of ownership, new players arriving – we had to increase the size of the changing room because it didn’t fit the size of the squad.
“There is always going to be someone upset because not everyone can play. The manager can only pick 11 from a squad of 30-something – that’s tough. Some can’t make the squad, we signed eight in January, we need to stop and put a strategy in place otherwise next season we could make the same mistakes.
“Everybody talks too much about replacing managers. I think we, as players, must also take responsibility. We have had three managers this season, plus a fourth with Bruno where we failed to win. We have lost today and with Lampard we have failed to win. Everybody is talking about the manager but we must look at what has been done wrong and try to change.”
Chelsea legend Frank Leboeuf totally agrees with Silva, as he explained in his exclusive and extensive Chelsea column for Si & Dan Talk Chelsea this week.

Leboeuf said: “I totally agree with Thiago here. Yes the squad is too big and I like the fact that he encouraged the players to face the reality of their performances, and you have to take responsibility for your actions and it’s not been enough from the players.
“But I can also read between the lines with what he says about the board and what they have to rectify and make better for the club, and that’s also true and is why I was saying that you have to make sure you go back to what the fans want. Just being competitive, that’s what we want to see at this stage.”
