“It is costing us” – Kepa explains Chelsea’s problems; doesn’t mention himself

Kepa Arrizabalaga is not good at reading the room.

His quotes in the Evening Standard after last night’s defeat are hardly explosive, but when fans are feeling sensitive after a dreadful season, even something small can set them off.

In this case, the stopper chose the morning after he was at least partly at fault for two goals and he and his team put in a shocking performance to blame external factors, despite also confusingly saying “the players are the first to be responsible.”

“There have been three changes of coach, there have been changes in the squad during the season and it is costing us,” he added.

You know what’s really costing us though Kepa? Having a goalkeeper who can’t make simple saves, and having a squad who are happy to blame everyone except themselves.

It’s clear to everyone that the changes in playing staff and manager are hurting the cohesion of the team, but if the players we had before had been performing there would have been no need to buy new ones, and the results would have been good enough to avoid three manager changes. Did you ever think about that?
