Manager was “quite clear” with players on where they can improve and hurt Real Madrid

Managers in England never get asked enough tactical questions, so we were relieved to see Frank Lampard asked about how he would get his Chelsea team playing tomorrow night.

He noted that he had watched both of last year’s games back, plus the match from last week, and had noted ways his team could improve. He added that he had been “quite clear” with the players over what they were.

He didn’t go into any specifics here, but given what he said after the game last week we would imagine it was mainly to do with the full backs being more adventurous and the whole team getting the ball to them higher up.

You can see the Chelsea manager speaking in the clip embedded here, with this question coming after 13 minutes:

The absence of Ben Chilwell is going to hurt that plan however, and without him Chelsea are likely to struggle to make any inroads at all down the left.
