N’Golo Kante made his first start since August today, and after 70 brilliant minutes he was withdrawn by Bruno.
The midfielder got a huge ovation given it was 0-0 – in part a welcome back from his adoring fans, but largely because of his brilliant showing against Liverpool.
Kante was everywhere, reminding us of what we’ve been missing this season. It seems a regular feature for him, returning from a long injured spell and putting in a masterclass as though he had never been away.
Of course he’s been withdrawn in line with the medical department’s advice, but there was no sign of him slowing down. He looked ready to play another 70 minutes if it came down to it.
He could play a vital role in this final run of the season – but most importantly we need to find a player who can somehow, in some way, play that role when he’s out.
