Outside candidate gets closer to top of Chelsea’s shortlist

The rumours connecting Vincent Kompany with the permanent Chelsea manager job are growing stronger.

Today Tom Roddy of the Times has reported that the Burnley coach is a “surprise candidate” for the job, building on whispers that have built up over the last few weeks. He names Kompany in a group of four candidates on the list, alongside Julien Nagelsmann, Mauricio Pochettino “and one other” – we’re not sure why he won’t name them.

Kompany joined Burnley from Anderlecht a year ago and led them to the Championship title with a storming season which confirmed his place as one of Europe’s top young coaches. Taking the Chelsea job when he’s on such an upwards trajectory would be a risk – but one he can probably afford to take.

He’s still very young and inexperienced compared to some of the other candidates on the list, but could also have a huge amount of potential as a coaching prospect.

  1. So these clowns that owns Chelsea at the moment don’t have any plan for this club. In fact let it be that this Kompany story is just a rumour or gossip, whatever you call it. Chelsea needs a top class manager for goodness sake. Oh just because Kompany led Bunley back to Premiership has qualified him for Chelsea job. You guys are Jokers right.?
