Pochettino, Glasner and Spalletti next up for meetings with Chelsea’s sporting directors

Both David Ornstein and Nizaar Kinsella have published articles today where they talk about the current stage of Chelsea’s moves to appoint a new manager, hinting that some briefing is going on behind the scenes.

If we take it that Kinsella is getting information from the inside, here’s what they’re trying to tell us. His article says that Chelsea have spoken to Julien Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique face to face, which clearly makes them front runners.

Then there’s Ruben Amorim, who is apparently not expected to go further in the process.

Kinsella’s piece says the sporting directors want a selection of “a few” candidates to present to the ownership, and so it seems likely that at least one of the other coaches mentioned in the piece will join Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique on that shortlist.

Antonio Conte and Carlo Ancelotti are not going to be considered, but Luciano Spalletti, Oliver Glasner and Mauricio Pochettino are, meaning it’s likely that at least one of that trio will be next up for face to face talks.
