His latest comments are probably not meant to be incendiary – in fact it’s difficult to spot the lie when he talks about his old club’s struggles this season.
“Honestly, I don’t understand how Chelsea are failing in the Premier League. They have players of a world level who are able to achieve success – although I hope the bad run continues on Tuesday,” the keeper said.
“They’re maybe in crisis in terms of their points in the Premier League but they are always a difficult rival. There doesn’t exist an easy English rival. They have an obligation to attack as they search for a goal and maybe that means we can manage the situation better. We hope for a tactical match not a crazy match from the first minute.”
He’s still trying to convince himself that we will be a big challenge this season, clearly. We’re not so sure. Unless we score very early and manage to shake things up, we can see Madrid closing the vice pretty quickly and crushing the life out of the game.
With Courtois in goal and playing well, it’s going to be tough to find the net too.
