Real Madrid’s one weak spot confirmed for Chelsea clash – and how Blues might exploit it

As was expected, Real Madrid trained with an almost full squad today ahead of tomorrow’s game against Chelsea.

There was just one important absence – Ferland Mendy.

The left back will miss tomorrow’s game, creating a slight weakness in Los Blancos’ lineup that Chelsea can exploit.

Eduardo Camavinga is likely to fill in for Mendy, and while the youngster is a phenomenal talent, he’s not a natural in the position, and Frank Lampard will now be thinking off the best ways to exploit that.

The alternative is using David Alaba there, a more cautious move but one that Carlo Ancelotti would certainly consider given the magnitude of the game.

Reece James will be a natural threat down that side, and perhaps rather than worrying about picking the most dangerous right wing player to join him, the focus should be on creating enough protection for James that he is liberated to push forward and threaten on that side.

That could well mean an extra midfielder in the mix, with instructions to fill in for James when he’s bombing forward.
