Stats show just how bad Chelsea’s goalscoring crisis is

FBRef have updated their Premier League stats after the weekend’s action, and it’s not good for Chelsea.

A look at the “goal creating actions per 90” column show the team down in 13th place in the table.

On an individual basis, things are even worse. A look at the top of the table shows Man City dominance – Kevin de Bruyne is performing 1.1 goal creating actions per 90 minutes, with Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden not far behind.

You have to drop down to a jaw dropping 49th place in the league to find your first Chelsea player – Mason Mount, who has 0.39. He’s also out of form and injured.

This is a stat measure individually, but ultimately it’s a measure of the team’s overall goalscoring, and it’s clear that that is where Chelsea are having a complete crisis, with their shot creating actions (a relatively impressive 8th place) just not translating to goals.
