(Video): Chelsea suffering physically as well as mentally says manager

Frank Lampard was asked today about how much of his side’s struggles are mental as opposed to physical, and he agreed it was a “tough one.”

It seems like he’s not entirely happy with the team’s physical conditioning, which is to be fair what al managers say when they take over mid season:

“A hard one to divide up. Through each individual there will be different elements. I think physical is work and to be a top team there’s no doubt you have to be towards the top of the physical numbers in the league. We have to aspire to do that and that’s an individual thing and a collective thing.”

Certainly today’s heavily rotated team looked physically dodgy, which is hardly surprising. Some of them are tired, some of them are lacking match fitness. Regardless, both groups played poorly.

  1. Chelsea is completely deconstructed by the way the new Owners handle the affairs of the Club in the last few months in charge. No doubt that they want to stamp authority and flex their muscle! That’s okay! But if they don’t hire an elite manager at the end of the season, we are going to wear one trouser with them! They are fumbling and can be forgiven, but not next season
