ESPN’s analysis of the Chelsea – Aston Villa game last night did not look kindly on Graham Potter.
Most importantly, they dismisses the misleading stats that resulted from the game. Chelsea had an impressive 27 shots, with 8 on target. But as they pointed out, this was not a siege of Villa’s goal with Emi Martinez on fire. We barely remember him being tested, and in fact the Villa’s two shots on target were far more dangerous than our 8.
It’s not just missing chances, it’s failing to create chances that can’t be missed.
