It was put to Frank Lampard a couple of times in the press conference yesterday that he and his team had nothing to play for now they’re out of the Champions League, and while he snapped at the first person to ask it, he answered properly the second time.
“I don’t have that mentality,” he explained. He pointed to the players’ personal pride, and the desire to play when when you’re in a Chelsea shirt. That should be enough to make sure everyone puts a shift in, no matter where they are in the table.
