Dharmesh Sheth is at Cobham ready to report on Bruno Saltor’s first press conference as Chelsea interim boss, and the Sky Sports reporter has quotes from the club saying it wasn’t just the bad resuls that cost Graham Potter his job.
There was apparently a feeling that the “lack of progress could not be sustained,” which is certainly something we could send from the sidelines.
The public statement released by the club says nothing of the sort, so we can only assume that this has come from someone pretty high up.
You can see him discussing the situation in the clip embedded here:
Potter might have survived some rocky results if there was a sense that the team was improving as a unit and that individual players were getting better. Instead, the club were losing game after game with no patterns of play or relationships on the pitch really developing.
